Call me miss Frog

I frog a lot. I am currently frogging a granny stitch cocoon sweater I thought I would love but didn´t really work out for me (it was too irregular). It will be a bitch to frog all these little squares and it´s trying my patience.

I have this sweater I frogged 4 times and finally on the 5th go it finally worked out. I don´t really regret any of the frogging, I think it´s better to frog something 4 times than have something in my closet that doesn’t work for me.

So I guess you can call me miss Frog :)

For those who don´t know what frogging is, it´s a crochet and knitting term for undoing something. It´s called frogging because you “rip it”

Off the hook

Recently I finished to the point shawl by Wilma Westenberg.  Pattern here

I had made this shawl before out of wool but I am changing from wool to cotton and other plantfibers because I have some sensory issues and I can´t take the itchyness.

So I made it out of Drops loves you nr. 7 (I think) and now I can enjoy this beautiful shawl without constantly scratching myself.

Watch, listen, read

I haven´t been on here for 3 years but I want to start blogging again.

So I´ll start with a easy blog

Watching

Star trek the next generation. This is one of my safety shows, always so enjoyable to watch.

Listening

I´ve been listening to a lot of Joy division lately and some other post punk/goth stuff.

Reading

I am reading my way through Terry Pratchett´s discworld again. I am currently on book nr 7 Pyramids.

I finished last month reading series The other´s by Anne Bishop. The first book is called Written in red and I do recommend the whole series if you like supernatural beings and found families.

I am also reading my way through James Elroy´s La quartet I´m on book 2 the big nowhere at the moment. I´m not sure about these books, I find the language incredibly shocking (racist, sexist and homophobic)

All these books are audiobooks but I´m also reading some ebook

Steampunk trilogy by Paul Di Filippo and The Carnelian crow by Coleen Gleason

Well that´s enough for now.

Get back into an old hobby

I used to a lot of drawing and painting but haven´t picked it up in about 10 years.

So I bought some watercolors and I have painted one picture of lemons. I decided to start painting fruits because they are simple then I´ll maybe go into flowers.

I haven´t used watercolors much before, I used to use acrylics but decided to change it up. The watercolors are much softer and warmer then the acrylics (and less messy)

So I´m pretty happy with my picture and I´m glad I took a picture of it with my phone before my bunny bit one of the corners (he´s so bad)

I also want to pick up drawing again, I want to start doing some easy going doodleling.

Listen, watch, read

Listen: Kæla mikla. An ecxellent coldwave band from Iceland. I have been listening to them on replay this whole fall.

Watch: Black lagoon on Netflix. It´s about a bunch of modern day pirates living on a island that is morally lacking. It´s fast paced and loud. It reminds me somewhat of Quentin Tarantino and John Woo.

Reading: The legend of Sleepy Hollow by Irving Washington. For my bookclub I read the legend of sleepy hollow. I had seen the movie many years ago and the book is nothing like the movie. In the book Ichabod Crane is sort of unfortunate looking and (spoilers) it doesn´t end very well for him. It was a fun and short read and now I want to read something more by Irving Washington.

The silent vloggers

So my newest obsession are the silent vloggers on youtube. They who I watch are from Korea, Japan and one from China.

In these videos wich are mostly made by women, they do things like cook, bake, craft, garden and snuggle their pets under calming music, without idle chatter.

It´s very relaxing watching these videos and a nice change from the overly peppy and in your face vloggers that can be quite annoying.

I really think everybody needs something calming in these covid times.

Here are some of my favorite silent vloggers
